Our August 2024 trip to Boston started once again with another Porter flight direct from Ottawa before heading up to Manchester, New Hampshire. We drove to the Bronco Off-Roadeo location in Gilford, New Hampshire the next morning to take the complimentary course included with last year’s Ford Bronco Sport purchase. Our wonderful instructor gave us a “physics of off-road driving” course before a delicious but insanely large sandwich and hitting some unmaintained public roads to learn what a Bronco Sport is capable of. Brenda and I took turns going over rather large rocks and through pools of water and mud (where Thomas ended up on turtle protection duty) on some very sketchy roads before heading on a rather tilted road back to camp for dinner. When we arrived back in Manchester, we checked out the Frank Lloyd Wright Zimmerman House before heading for a drink at the delightful Industry East.
The next morning we drove back to the Boston airport to return the rental car after dropping off our luggage en route. We had wonderful views of the harbour as we took a water taxi from the airport to Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park before checking out Faneuil Hall Marketplace and walking through the downtown to Boston Commons. After checking out the “Make Way For Ducklings” sculpture, we had a drink at Cheers where no one actually knew our names! Our plan to walk back to our Cambridge hotel and cross the Charles River was thwarted by torrential rain.
We spent the next morning walking around Cambridge in the heat before having some amazing Toscanini’s Ice Cream before we headed to Logan for our Porter return flight to Ottawa.
